Flights from Tel Aviv for an Alpine trek: which airport for which route
The right airport depends on the route: Geneva for the Tour du Mont Blanc and the start of the Haute Route, Zurich for its end and for Switzerland, Munich for Bavaria and Tirol, Venice for Alta Via 1 and 2, and Milan for the Italian side of Mont Blanc. We found no direct flights to Corsica in 2026. Since the 2026 war routes change often, so check the current schedule and book the huts before the flight.
An airport for each route
Geneva: Chamonix, the Tour du Mont Blanc and the start of the Haute Route, about an hour away. Zurich: the end of the Haute Route at Zermatt, by train, and most of Switzerland; SWISS has flown daily from Tel Aviv since 1 August 2026.
Munich: the Bavarian Alps, and Tirol, the Stubai Höhenweg and the Zillertal by train via Innsbruck; Lufthansa has flown twice a day since August 2026. We found no regular direct route to Innsbruck itself.
Venice: Alta Via 1 and 2 and the eastern Dolomites. Milan: the Italian side of Mont Blanc and the Aosta valley. Both had direct flights in summer 2026, El Al and Wizz Air among them, and Milan also Israir and Arkia. Verona, in season, suits the western Dolomites.
Ljubljana: the Julian Alps, sometimes with direct flights in season. Corsica: we found no direct flights in 2026; connect via Paris, Nice or Marseille. For the Écrins and the GR54 the nearest airports are Lyon and Grenoble, with no direct route we could confirm.
What happened in 2026
The war with Iran that began on 28 February 2026 shut most air traffic for weeks. Until early April El Al flew at about 5% of its normal volume, and foreign airlines returned gradually from late May: Wizz Air restored all its routes from 28 May, Lufthansa and SWISS came back over the summer, and easyJet had still not returned as of August 2026. Ryanair dropped Tel Aviv from its network.
The right order
This section is our advice, not a count from the shelter table. Everything else on this page states a number we hold.
On a hut trek the huts are the scarce resource, not the flight. Book the nights first and the flight second, ideally one you can change. A cancelled route can be replaced with a connection; a full hut in July cannot always be replaced.
Our deal radar tracks the cheapest fare from Tel Aviv to a set of European destinations every day, and shows which way the price is moving.
