In short

Our table holds 155 huts and shelters across 2 areas of the Julian Alps, 140 of them staffed. In huts of the Alpine Association of Slovenia (PZS) a bed in a shared room in a category I hut costs up to 30 euros, or 18 euros for Alpine Club members, a 40% discount that applies in every PZS hut. The high huts are staffed roughly from late June to late September.

What a hut night costs in Slovenia

PZS publishes recommended maximum prices: in category I, a bed in a 7–12-bed room costs 30 euros (18 for members), a 3–6-bed room 36 euros (25.20 for members) and a two-bed room 38 euros (26.60 for members). Category II is cheaper. Prices exclude bed linen and tourist tax, and in winter up to 2.50 euros a night can be added for heating.

The 40% member discount on shared rooms applies even in category III huts, which price freely. Members of other Alpine Clubs get it with their own card. The table on the PZS site in 2026 is still the 2024 one.

How to book

Most huts are booked by phone, and some through the PZS online booking system. A reservation holds until 17:00 on the arrival day, and cancellations need at least two days' notice.

Getting there from Tel Aviv

In season there are sometimes direct flights to Ljubljana, close to the Julian Alps. Otherwise walkers connect via Vienna or Munich.

After the disruption of 2026 direct routes from Tel Aviv change often, so check the current schedule, and book the huts before the flight.
