What a hut night costs in Switzerland
An adult bed in an SAC hut usually costs 25–45 francs, and a night with half board (dinner, bed and breakfast) 60–90 francs. At the Konkordiahütte, for example, a member paid 34 francs for the bed and 76 for half board in 2026, and non-members 49 and 91. Members usually save 12–15 francs a night.
From 2027 every night adds a solidarity contribution of 3 francs for members and 5 for non-members, and a 10-franc booking fee at staffed huts, credited to the bill but kept on cancellation or no-show. SAC huts recorded 409,000 overnights in 2025, a record.
How to book, and when the season is
Most huts are booked through hut-reservation.org. Cancelling in time has so far been free at all SAC huts; from 2027 the booking fee stays with the hut, and some huts already charge more for cancelling, for example 60 francs a night at the Etzlihütte.
About 120 huts are staffed in summer, roughly from mid-June to mid-October, and about 70 are fully or partly staffed in winter and spring too. The Konkordiahütte, for example, was staffed from 13 June to 19 September in summer 2026.
Swiss Alpine Club membership
SAC membership costs 80–110 francs per person and 110–280 per family, depending on the section, and you must choose a section. Members living abroad receive the magazine too, and invoices are in francs only. Unlike the Austrian club, adults are not automatically insured.
Membership of any club in the reciprocity agreement, such as the Austrian or German one, gets member rates in SAC huts too.
Getting there from Tel Aviv
SWISS has flown daily from Tel Aviv to Zurich since August 2026, and from there trains reach almost every valley. For western Switzerland and the Chamonix area, Geneva is the convenient airport.
After the disruption of 2026 direct routes from Tel Aviv change often, so check the current schedule, and book the huts before the flight.
